CADC Grant Renewed

The School of Social Work is excited to announce a $452,000 grant for the Certificate in Alcohol and Other Drug Counseling (CADC) Workforce Expansion Program. The grant was renewed for the third year by the Illinois Certification Board and the Illinois Department of Human Services/Division of Substance Use Prevention and recovery (IDHS/SUPR).

This award is an increase from the $390,000 awarded to the program in the previous grant cycle, allowing the program to financially support students with tuition and supportive materials.

"The continuation of this grant is valuable for post-grads to come and earn their credentials to better serve clients affected by drugs, alcohol, and addiction," said CADC Program Director Marcy Wilroy. "This is especially important for our community at this time, due to the shortage of alcohol and other drug counselors in the area.”

Students receiving aid from this grant will commit to completing the CADC program, passing their licensure exam, and working in the state of Illinois for two years after completion.

Program Director Marcy Wilroy, DSW will host an virtual info session on Zoom on November 5 at 5:30 p.m.
